LINCOLN'S FINEST WELSH BORDER MORRIS TEAM
MAD, BAD AND DANGEROUS TO KNOW!
We are a mixed border morris team based in Lincoln, with team members travelling from across Lincolnshire to dance with us.
Poacher was formed in 1995 and we take our name from the song 'The Lincolnshire Poacher'. Please do not ask us to sing it!We perform the dances of the Welsh Border tradition in our own wild exuberant style, much influenced by Shropshire Bedlams and Witchmen.
As a border side we carry on the tradition of disguise with our own distinctive colours. Black to represent the border tradition and yellow for the Lincolnshire yellowbelly, a person born and bred within the county of which many of the team are!
Our costume of colourful rag coats and decorated top hats are taken from descriptions of late 19th centenary dancers.

If you like to book Poacher for any events or join us, contact either the Squire, Bagman or Foreman. Please note if booking us for a function we do not dance on grass or gravel, ideally we need a hard surface.
Sorry, but we are unable to take any daytime bookings during the week except bank holidays due to work commitments by members of the team.
