LINCOLN'S FINEST WELSH BORDER MORRIS TEAM

MAD, BAD AND DANGEROUS TO KNOW especially if we are called Lincolnshire Poacher Morris Men!

We are a mixed border morris team therefore are not morris men! based in Lincoln, with team members travelling from across Lincolnshire to dance with us.

Poacher was formed in 1995 and we take our name from the song 'The Lincolnshire Poacher'. Please do not ask us to sing it!We perform the dances of the Welsh Border tradition in our own wild exuberant style, much influenced by the Shropshire Bedlams

As a border side we carry on the tradition of disguise with our own distinctive colours. Black to represent the border tradition and yellow for the Lincolnshire yellowbelly, a person born and bred within the county of which many of the team are!

Our costume of colourful rag coats and decorated top hats are taken from descriptions of late 19th centenary dancers.
